The Louisville United 2022 team made a national name for themselves this past weekend in Akron, Ohio at the famed Shooting Stars Classic. Annually the largest tournament for youth basketball nationally, Louisville United made it to the championship game falling to Bates Fundamentals and superstar Emoni Bates. Mekhi Smith from Louisville United was named Co-MVP of the tournament alongside Emoni Bates.

United started out pool play with two blowout wins. They defeated Hardwork Basketball 66-22 then beat the Lima Gators 75-53 to advance to the gold bracket. Many people thought Louisville United would drop the first game of bracket play as they were slated to play the nations #1 team according to Coast II Coast Preps in the ATL Cavs. The upset occurred as Louisville United knocked off the ATL Cavs 58-54 to move onto the quarterfinals.

In the quarters Louisville United knocked out BTC Trojans 55-30 and Court Leaders 63-44 in the semi-finals to advance to play Bates Fundamentals in the title. In the championship game they fell short 52-42 to the guys from Michigan but all in all it was a great weekend for them as they proved they are among the nations elite in the 2022 class.

5TH GRADE DIVISION

In the fifth grade division, the West Kentucky Wildcats duplicated the Louisville United run before losing the championship game. In the title game they lost to the nations #1 ranked 2024 team, North Coast Blue Chips. The West Kentucky Wildcats were led by Travis Perry, Caldwell County native.
