Northern Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Camryn Whitaker announced the addition of Kennedy Archer, a 5-10 guard from Indianapolis. Archer will transfer to NKU from Coastal Carolina and will sit out the 2017-18 season per NCAA rules.
“We are extremely excited that Kennedy has chosen to join our family at NKU!” commented Whitaker. “She brings a level of experience and maturity that will definitely benefit our team. Kennedy’s size, ability to shoot the ball and intensity on the defensive end are qualities we look for in all our players. I look forward to watching her develop next season and having her ready for 2018-19!”
Archer played two seasons for the Chanticleers, starting in 25 games as a sophomore. The Indianapolis native was the team’s third leading scorer in the 2016-17 campaign, averaging 9.1 points per game while playing nearly 30 minutes a contest. Archer was second on the team in 3-pointers made, sinking 34 treys at a .436 clip, and was also a quick defender with 46 steals.
During her prep career, Archer averaged 17 points, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game as a senior at Franklin Central. She was named to Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60 Team and was an IBCA Senior Large School All-State honoree. She also played AAU for Sky Diggs Elite out of Indianapolis.
Archer is the eighth addition to next year’s roster, joining Chyna Anthony, Kailey Coffey, Jazmyne Geist, Samari Mowbray, Reece Mungar, Grayson Rose and Grace White.
