The University of Louisville rowing team had six student-athletes named to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Team released Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. Representing the Cardinals on the 52-person were junior Rebecca Busk, senior Erin Enk, junior Kirsti Harrison, junior Callie McGowan, junior Sophie Schulz and junior Kim Streetz.
The All-ACC Academic Rowing Team was selected from a record 265 nominations from the ACC’s nine schools that sponsor the sport, an average of 29.4 rowers per team, also a league record. To be nominated for the All-ACC Academic team, student-athletes must have recorded a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in the winter semester and have maintained a 3.0 career GPA at their respective schools.
Wednesday’s announcement marked the second straight All-ACC Academic Team selection for Harrison, who was honored as an All-America and All-ACC performer on the water this season. Joining Harrison as two-team All-ACC Academic Team members were McGowan, Schulz and Streetz.
Busk, Harrison, McGowan and Schulz closed the 2017 season in Louisville’s varsity eight boat, Streetz was in the second varsity eight crew and Enk was in the varsity four boat. The Cardinals capped their season with a fifth-place finish at the 2017 ACC Championship.
