Three former Murray State baseball student-athletes have signed contracts to play on Frontier League teams in the Independent Professional Baseball Federation (IPBF).
Chad Gendron and Jack Hranec both signed with the Gateway Grizzlies while John Lollar signed with the Southern Illinois Miners.
In 2017, Gendron was third in the OVC recording eight saves, which is tied for the most in a single season in program history at MSU. Gendron appeared in 23 games and pitched 36 innings this past season for the Racers.
Hranec hit .349 with 16 home runs and 53 RBIs in 2017. Hranec led MSU with a .717 slugging percentage and his 16 homers are tied for the second most for a single season in program history. Hranec was also named to the 2017 OVC Championships All-Tournament Team after he hit five home runs and drove in 10.
Lollar was second on the team with 24 appearances in 2017 as he recorded a 2-1 record and pitched 47 innings mainly out of the bullpen. Lollar’s 78 career appearances are the second most all-time in program history.
