The 2017 Kentucky women’s soccer season kicks off Friday, but the home slate of matches begins on Aug. 24 vs. Eastern Kentucky – which will be the first “Thunderstick Thursday” of the 2017 season. The promotional schedule was released on Monday afternoon, which was put together by the UK marketing staff led by Devin Kochergen.
The home opener on Aug. 24 will not only be a “Thunderstick Thursday”, but will feature free pizza for all students in attendance and a post-match autograph session.
All home matches on the 2017 slate will feature post-match autographs where fans will have a chance to interact with the players and get their autographs by the Wildcat Victory Bell following every match.
Aug. 27 will be “Dollar Dog Sunday” where all fans in attendance are encouraged to bring their dogs to the stadium for $1 admission. In addition, all fans will receive $1 hot dogs, and a special UK dog bowl as the giveaway. There will be a special-edition poster given away, and as always, post-match autographs.
Friday, Sept. 1 is the headline of the home season, as UK welcomes Louisville to The Bell for the annual “Battle of the Bluegrass”. There will be a vuvuzela giveaway, custom cornhole giveaway and an Alumna recognition on-field. This will also be the first “Friday Family Night” of the season where a family of four can get four hot dogs and four drinks for only $20.
Kentucky Women’s Soccer annual “Kick-Cancer Match” will be Friday, Sept. 15 vs. Lipscomb at 7:30 p.m. ET. The team will be wearing special gold kits for the match – which will then be auctioned off online, with all proceeds benefiting DanceBlue.
Kentucky’s Southeastern Conference home opener will be on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be a White Out. The first 250 fans through the gates will receive a free white Kentucky Women’s Soccer t-shirt as well as thundersticks, as part of “Thunderstick Thursday”. This will also serve as “International Night” where there will be a pre-match tailgate for all international students in attendance, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
UK’s match with LSU on Friday, Sept. 29 will be Youth Night at The Bell. There will be a drawstring giveaway in addition to $1 admission for all kids aged 6-18. This match will also serve as Junior Wildcat Club night, where free admission will be granted for all club members and one guest.
October 22 will close out the home slate on fixtures, as Senior Day at 2 p.m. ET vs. Arkansas. The Wildcats will honor seniors Tanya Samarzich, Katy Keen and Kelly Novak with a pre-match ceremony on their last regular season home match at The Bell. There will also be a special Senior Night poster given away to fans who are in attendance.
