The Kentucky women’s tennis team will cap off its fall season this week, sending three members of its roster to Indian Wells, California, for the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The tournament will be held November 1-5, 2017, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and other resort locations.
The Wildcats will be represented in the tournament by juniors Justina Mikulskytė and Akvilė Paražinskaitė, and senior Mami Adachi. All three qualified for the tournament by way of the Ohio Valley Regional Championships, as Mikulskytė won the singles draw and Adachi and Paražinskaitė teamed up to take the doubles crown.
Mikulskytė will be the first to see action, taking on Cal’s Olivia Hauger on Wednesday at 8 a.m. PST. Kentucky’s tandem will follow as they take on Dartmouth’s Abigail Chiu/Julia Schroeder that afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
The event, which serves as the conclusion of the fall collegiate tennis season, will include 128 of the nation’s top collegiate singles players (64 men and 64 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams). The event replaces the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, in which Kentucky’s Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi won the doubles title last season.
