With the 121 points on Tuesday night, Campbellsville has scored over 100 points in three-straight games for the first time since 1995 when the Tigers tallied over 100 points in six-straight contests. During that stretch from Jan. 16, 1995 to Jan. 27, 1995, Campbellsville went 4-2.
Andrew Smith recorded 18 points for the Tigers (8-1) to lead all scorers and he was a rebound shy of his first double-double in a Campbellsville uniform to finish the night with nine. Including Smith, six different Tigers reached double figures in scoring en route to Campbellsville’s best scoring output of the season.
Adam Stanford recorded a double-double for the Tigers with 11 points and 11 boards. Kel Livers (16), Duke Robinson (13) and Deion Evans (15) notched career highs in points for Campbellsville, while Jalen Coates notched a season-high 13 points to round out the Tiger scorers in double figures.
Campbellsville did not trail at any point in the game and held the lead for all but 43 seconds. The Tigers opened the game with a 15-4 spurt, where the Falcons (2-7) tied the score twice, however, after Simmons pulled the game within four points, Campbellsville stretched its lead back out.
The Tigers used a 12-0 run out of the first media timeout to grab a 33-13 lead and forced the Falcons to call a timeout. Over the final three minutes of the first half, Campbellsville went on 20-2 run to take a 67-32 advantage at the break.
In the first half, the Tigers made 25-of-36 shots, and went 3-for-8 for beyond the arc. The Falcons made just one of their 18 three-pointers and made 13-of-43 shots during the first 20 minutes.
Campbellsville continued to stretch its lead out in the second half to take its largest of the night at 59 points with 5:22 left in the game. A 13-0 run just before the final media timeout was the longest run of the night for the Tigers, while keeping Simmons off the board.
The Falcons compiled just four points over the final two minutes of the game as Campbellsville earned a 121-65 victory over Simmons.
The Tigers outrebounded the Falcons 60-29, including a grabbing 32 rebounds in the first half, compared to 12 from Simmons. Campbellsville’s 60 rebounds are the most in game since Nov. 11, 2016 when the team grabbed 70 against Ohio State University-Mansfield.
To end the game, the Tigers compiled 28 assists – second most this season after notching 29 against Oakwood University – and shot 63.9 percent from floor, which is the best mark Campbellsville has posted this season. Simmons only made 32.5 percent of its shots and went 1-for-30 from three, but did make 14-for-20 free throws to cap off the contest.
The Tigers wrap up its seven-game homestand on Friday night against Voorhees College at 7 p.m. ET.
