The Thorobrettes (1-6, 1-1) have come up short to ASU in their last two meetings, the last coming in the 2017 SIAC Championship tournament on Feb. 27. The Lady Golden Rams (4-3, 1-1) have won four of their last five after starting the season 0-2.
“I was very disappointed in our effort tonight,” said head coach Terrance Slater. “We just seemed to be in a daze, and when you play good teams, they make you pay. We will get back to work and try to correct these things in practice, including our effort.”
The contest was an uphill battle throughout the evening as KSU didn’t lead at any point, falling behind 15-2 in the opening five-plus minutes of play. The green and gold were able to cut the lead to single digits only once in the first half as ASU built on the lead in every quarter to the eventual final.
Senior guard Brittani Rizzi and junior forward Jordan Campbell led the team in scoring with 14 points each. Campbell continues to play well off the bench, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor, while collecting a team-high six rebounds, in 20 minutes of action.
KSU will continue its four-game homestead on Thursday when they welcome in LeMoyne Owen College to the Capitol City for a 5:30 PM ET tipoff.
