The University of Louisville’s Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn defeated Florida’s McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale 6-1, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Friday afternoon. They advance to the semifinals where they will take on the winner between Wake Forest’s Skander Mansouri and Petros Chrysochos and Baylor’s second-seeded, No. 19-ranked Will Little and Johannes Schretter Saturday.
“Parker and Chris played ‘Big Boy’ doubles today using mainly hard-hitting shots and lots of charging the net,” said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. “We knew how talented this Florida doubles team is and that they fight to the bitter end. We never felt it was over until we won the match point because they are very well-coached.”
The 29th-ranked and fourth-seeded Cardinals duo bested Florida’s seventh-seeded pair of Kessler and Valle 6-1, 6-4 to extend their win streak to eight matches. They advance to the semifinals where they will take on the winner between Wake Forest’s Skander Mansouri and Petros Chrysochos and Baylor’s second-seeded, No. 19-ranked Will Little and Johannes Schretter Saturday.
“Parker was extremely active with his positioning today and Chris placed the ball all over the court intelligently,” said Ecarma. “They are now hitting their stride and brought out great offense today. We are happy to be among the final four teams now and will be prepared to play with Wake Forest or Baylor tomorrow.”
