The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will try to make it three wins in a row on Friday night at Marshall. Tipoff from the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, West Virginia is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
WHAT TO KNOW
– EKU (6-6) shot a season-high 52.7 percent from the field in Monday’s 83-66 win over Norfolk State. The Colonels also matched season highs in three-pointers made (10) and assists (20) in the convincing victory.
– Junior Jackson Davis scored an EKU career-high 15 points to lead five Colonels in double figures against Norfolk State.
– Freshman JacQuess Hobbs led EKU with career highs in assists (eight) and rebounds (seven) versus Norfolk State.
– Junior Nick Mayo played only 20 minutes versus NSU but still scored 14 points and moved past EKU greats Bruce Jones (1977-81) and Bobby Washington (1966-69) to No. 19 on EKU’s all-time scoring list (1,226 points).
– Senior Dillon Avare made a season-high four three-pointers vs. NSU and is now shooting 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from deep in EKU’s last four games.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
– Marshall (8-4) had won four in a row before falling at No. 9 Xavier, 81-77, on Tuesday night.
– Marshall averages nearly 90 points-per-game. The high-scoring Thundering Herd is led by Jon Elmore, who comes into Friday averaging 23.5 points-per-game and 7.6 assists-per-game.
– This is the 42nd all-time meeting between EKU and Marshall. EKU leads the series, 23-18, and the Colonels defeated the Thundering Herd, 89-80, last year in Richmond.
– EKU has not won at Marshall since a 94-92 victory on March 3, 1965.
