Mikayla Logan and Anna Cvelbar have signed National Letters of Intent to play volleyball for Eastern Kentucky University.
Cvelbar, a 5-foot-8 setter out of Euclid, Ohio, was named to the Under Armour All-American Watch List, All-District Honorable Mention and North Coast League First Team this season for Lake Catholic High School after pouring in 469 assists, 93 digs and 33 kills. The Cougars were District and Regional Champions and in the Final Four each of the last two seasons. Cvelbar’s older sister, Abbey Cvelbar (2011-14), is a familiar name to Colonel Athletics, as she holds the no. 5 spot in single-season assists (1,340) and the no. 2 all-time spot in career assists (3,818).
“Anna is the latest Cvelbar setter to join the Colonel volleyball program,” Head Coach Lori Duncan said. “Her sister, Abbey, had a distinguished career here. The addition of Anna will give us more flexibility and leadership with our setting core.”
Logan, a 5-foot-8 middle blocker, was named Second Team All-Section this season for North Allegheny High School. The Wexford, Pennsylvania native’s squad has lost just four contests in the last three years, posting a 64-4 mark. The Tigers were 4A WPIAL Champions and PIAA Champions last season as well as being Section Champions for the last three seasons.
“Mikayla comes from a very athletic family,” Duncan stated. “Her father played football at West Virginia and went on to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her mom was a standout track and field athlete at WVU. Mikayla is a versatile, dynamic athlete that will give us depth and experience in the middle and outside positions. I couldn’t be more excited about the addition of these two outstanding volleyball players. Both of them will have an immediate impact on our success next fall.”
