The Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team hits the road to do battle with the George Mason Patriots on Saturday in Fairfax, Virginia. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW
– The Colonels (2-5, 0-0 OVC) fell to Kent State, 65-57, last Tuesday in McBrayer Arena. Eastern made 2-of-6 free throws down the stretch that allowed the Golden Flashes to send the game to overtime and claim the win.
– Abby Wright followed a career-high 20 point performance versus Ohio with a 19 point outburst against Kent State. In addition, she finished tied on the team in assists with three.
– A’Queen Hayes recorded her seventh-straight double-figure game against Kent State, scoring 16 points and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
– George Mason (8-2, 0-0 A-10) defeated LIU Brooklyn, 73-70, in overtime this past Thursday.
– Freshman Nicole Cardaño made the game tying layup with just 11 seconds in regulation, while Natalie Butler made the game clinching free throws in overtime to help the Patriots secure the win against LIU Brooklyn.
– Butler and Cardaño pace the George Mason offense, averaging 18.6 and 18.2 points per game respectively.
– This will be the second all-time meeting between EKU and George Mason. The first came in 1981, where the Colonels came away with a 68-61 win in Richmond.

– The Colonels will be in action at home to take on Ohio Christian University on Dec. 18. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.
