The Murray State Racers hit the road for their final game before Christmas with a 7 p.m. ET tip against the Detroit
Mercy Titans at Calihan Hall in Detroit, Michigan.

The Racers lead the all-time series 2-1 after winning the game at MSU a year ago 86-77 on the strength of a 27-point night for Jonathan Stark. The Racers have played once at UDM and that came in 2000 when Coach Tevester Anderson took is team into Calihan Hall and dropped a 91-64 final.
The Racers are 19-10 all-time against the current membership of the Horizon League. In the late 1980’s, the
Racers played Youngstown State, then a member of the OVC, 14 times with MSU winning 10. This season, the
Racers have already defeated Wright State out of the Horizon League. In 2015, the Racers defeated Milwaukee
and in 2016 when they met Green Bay for the first time.
The Racers are 7-3 after experiencing an amazing night at the CFSB Center with more than 6,400 watching,
when Murray State welcomed the Auburn Tigers, the first Southeastern Conference team to visit MSU’s home
court since 1993. The Racers came from behind to get the lead, but lost it for good with four minutes left in
the game and fell 81-77.
Terrell Miller is fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game, while Jonathan Stark
is eighth at 15.8. Both were All-OVC as juniors and again this season named All-OVC Preseason with Stark
being named the OVC’s Preseason MVP. Miller is one of five players in the OVC that rank in the top-10 in
scoring and rebounding. Ja Morant has become a solid candidate for top OVC freshman honors as the guard
is second in the OVC with 6.5 assists per game. Morant is the second leading freshman guard in NCAA D-I in
assists per game.
Stark and Miller have a shot at becoming the 43rd and 44th members of the MSU 1000-Point Club. Going into
the Detroit Mercy game, Stark has 881 points and Miller has 703.
OVC play is just around the corner for the Racers. They start with four-straight home games with Eastern
Illinois (Dec. 28) and SIUE (Dec. 30) and also Southeast Missouri (Jan. 4) and UT Martin (Jan. 6). Then it’s on the
road for four games in a row in what is sure to be a competitive run for the OVC crown. The Racers have won
24 of them and looking for their first since 2015.
