UK WBB Hosts No. 24 Cal for Dollar Day Thursday at Memorial

Continuing its stretch of eight straight games against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the national listings, the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will play host to No. 24 Cal (8-2) on Thursday at Noon ET inside Memorial Coliseum, wrapping up the Wildcats’ non-conference home schedule.
The game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network with Tiffany Greene and Debbie Antonelli on the call. The action can also be seen through WatchESPN on computers, smartphones or tablets. Darren Headrick, now in his first year with the program, will be calling the game on the UK Sports Radio Network. Fans in Lexington can hear Headrick’s call on 630 AM WLAP. Thursday is dollar day at Memorial Coliseum as fans can get $1 general admission tickets and $1 hot dogs while a limited number of Santa hats will be given out to fans upon entry. Junior forward LaShae Halsel is scheduled to sign autographs following the game on the main concourse near the Lexington Avenue entrance. Young fans are encouraged to take advantage of the Kid Zone pregame with games, poster making stations, coloring stations and more.
Single-game tickets are $9 (all ages) in reserved seating areas. Children ages five and under do not require a ticket in general admission areas.
Kentucky is coming off a loss to No. 3 Louisville on Sunday inside Memorial Coliseum. The shot 44.9 percent from the field in the game, including 50 percent from long range but the Cardinals shot 48.5 percent from the field and outrebounded UK, 36-25 with 20 second-chance points and 22 points off turnovers. Maci Morris led Kentucky with 16 points, adding five rebounds.
Morris leads Kentucky in scoring this season with 15.8 points per game, adding 4.6 rebounds per game and a team-best 31 3-pointers hit. Junior guard Taylor Murray is averaging 11.9 points per game and is second on the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. Murray leads the team with 47 assists and 23 steals. Freshman post Tatyana Wyatt is averaging 10.7 points per game with 4.4 rebounds per game.
Entering Thursday’s game, No. 24 California owns an 8-2 overall record and is riding a five-game win streak dating back to Nov. 30. Cal is 5-1 at home and 3-1 in true road games. The Bears have not played since Dec. 16, when they defeated BYU, 70-45, at home. Cal’s two losses are both to ranked foes, as they fell to then-No. 1 Connecticut, 82-47, on Nov. 17 and then-No. 23 Missouri, 55-52, on Nov. 25.
Junior forward Kristine Anigwe leads the Bears in their scoring and rebounding efforts with 18.7 points and 8.8 boards per game. In the win over BYU, senior guard Mikayla Cowling led the charge with 21 points on 4-of-5 3-point shooting, while freshman guard Kianna Smith added 12 points and five assists. The Bears are averaging 77.9 points per game and outscoring their opponents by an 11.5-point margin. Today’s contest is Cal’s final non-conference game before opening Pac-12 play on Dec. 29 against USC.
This is the first ever meeting between Kentucky and Cal in women’s basketball. The Golden Bears are the second Pac-12 team that Kentucky will play this regular season. The Wildcats earned a key non-conference road victory at Washington State earlier this season, 73-68.
Following the game, Kentucky will break for the holidays before reconvening early next week to prepare for its Dec. 28 game at Middle Tennessee, which will be the final non-conference game for the Wildcats.

Parking
– Spectator parking is located in all of the E-lots surrounding Memorial Coliseum, all lots are off control three hours prior to tip. Additionally, the South Limestone Garage (PS#5) and the Rose Street Garage (PS#2) are available two hours prior to tip. – The Lexington Parking Authority Transit Center Parking Garage, located between High Street and Vine Street, will have a limited number of spaces available in the Transit Center Garage. Upon arrival, fans should take a yellow token from the entry machine. After parking and prior to walking to Memorial Coliseum, you may receive a free parking token from the UK Athletics staff member at the exit of the garage. A UK Event Staff member will be stationed outside of the transit center beginning at 10 am and will remain in place until 20 minutes after tipoff.
– Parking is prohibited in any R (Residential) lots. Vehicles parking in R lots without a proper permit, along yellow curbs, grass spaces, or other non-specified and unapproved areas may be subject to ticket and/or tow.
– Disabled spectator parking is available with a valid, state issued disabled hang tag in the E-Lot (Employee Lot) North of the Craft Center. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis until full.
Shuttles
– Shuttles are available beginning two hours prior to tip and pick up and drop off near the South Limestone Garage (Parking Structure #5) (blue route) and near the Transit Center Parking Garage and High Street Lot (green route).
– Shuttles will start back up after halftime to return guests to their parking areas, the shuttle will discontinue service one hour postgame.

– Doors to Memorial Coliseum open 1.5 hours prior to tip.
– UK Athletics encourages women’s basketball fans to arrive early to ease traffic and parking congestion around the Coliseum.
