Madison Clements recorded 15 points for the Lady Tigers (17-2, 3-0 Mid-South Conference), which are the most points scored in a game by a Campbellsville player this season. Madison Kaiser chipped in with 15 points and Alexus Calhoun had 13 points – both coming off the bench. Kennesha Nichols recorded a double-double with 13 points and game-high 11 rebounds.
Life scored nine of the first 11 points to start and Campbellsville hit just one of its first eight shots out of the gate. Heading into the first media timeout, the Lady Tigers pulled their deficit to 12-7, but they made just 3-of-11 field goals.
After trailing 15-7, Campbellsville closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run to make it 17-16 heading into the second quarter. Both teams struggled on offense in the first 10 minutes with the Lady Tigers going 5-for-19 from the floor and the Running Eagles converted on just six of its 19 field goals.
Campbellsville took its first lead of the game on its opening position of the second quarter after a three-pointer from Clements. The Lady Tigers extended their advantage to three points, but the lead did not last long as Life tied the score three times and then grabbed a 35-26 at the media timeout in the quarter.
The largest lead the Running Eagles took in the first half came with 3:25 left in the second quarter after they went on top, 38-28. Campbellsville pulled within eight points three times over the final three-and-a-half minutes and Life held a 42-34 advantage at the half.
In the first 20 minutes of action, the Lady Tigers connected on just 10 of its 33 shots and went 3-for-12 from beyond the arc. On the other side of the court, the Running Eagles were 16-for-37 from the floor and 4-for-12 from three.
Campbellsville came out strong in the third quarter and scored eight-straight points to tie the score at 42. The Lady Tiger run was pushed to 15-2 as they took a 49-44 advantage with 6:08 to play in the third quarter after bucket from Calhoun. Life pulled within a point, 51-50, but Campbellsville held a 63-59 lead heading into the final period of regulation.
To start the four quarter, the Lady Tigers extended its lead to eight points, but they could pull away as four-straight points from the Running Eagles made it a 68-64 contest with 6:38 left in regulation.
Campbellsville created some separation in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter and took it first double-digit lead of the game with just under two minute remaining after Calhoun put the Lady Tigers ahead, 80-69. Campbellsville maintained it double-digit advantage throughout the remainder of the game en route to a 91-73. The 18-point advantage to close out the game was the largest lead for the Lady Tigers on the day.
After shooting just over 30 percent from the floor in the first half, Campbellsville shot an even 60 percent in the second half to complete the comeback victory. Life only shot 32.4 percent in the second half, but the Running Eagles outrebounded the Lady Tigers, 43-37.
Campbellsville returns home on Thursday night to face University of Pikeville at 6 p.m. ET from the Powell Athletic Center.
