Georgetown WBB Defeats Life University 67-63

Georgetown College women’s basketball pulled to 500 in Mid-South Conference action with a come from behind road win Thursday over Life University. The Tigers (7-10, 1-1) trailed by as many as 11 in the first half, but were fueled to a rally behind 11 second half points from Abbey Van Zant.

GC led much of the final 20 minutes and won 67-63.

Van Zant finished with a game tying high 14 points and scored the first six points at of the break in helping GC over the Running Eagles (7-7, 0-2).

Raegan Williams also had a big second half with 10 of her 12 points. The lone deficit for Georgetown in the fourth quarter was quickly erased by the freshman’s two with 43 seconds to go. The Tigers scored the final five points to seal the win. Williams and Van Zant closed it out from the foul line.

Lydia Graves rounded out the double digit scorers with six points in each half for 12. Martina Lytle had a huge night on the boards with 13 rebounds.

Georgetown is set to play 2 pm Saturday hosting University of the Cumberlands.
