Junior forward Ray Croon was officially named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week per the conference office on Tuesday.
Croon has been a critical factor for the Thorobreds as he started off the new year averaging 22 points per game as he helped KSU to a 1-1 record last week defeating Paine College, 86-75 on Saturday. The junior turned in a well-rounded performance with a team-high 24 points against PC as he recorded another team-high with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Croon scored 16 of 24 points in the second half, for his third double-double of the year.
The 6’6 guard finished the week with 44 total points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks. Croon is currently leading the team in scoring average with 16.3 points per game.
The Thorobreds return to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 as they host Tuskegee University in the Exum Center. Tip-off is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
