Thomas More College WBB’s Temple and Wrestling’s Murphy Earn PAC Honors

Thomas More College junior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and first-year wrestler Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) earned weekly honors from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) on Monday afternoon.

Temple was named the PAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. She paced the fifth-ranked Saints during their 2-0 week, averaging 17.0 points, 8.0 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. Temple shot at a 52.2 percent (12-of-23) clip from the floor and knocked down 7-of-8 (87.5%) free throw attempts. In Saturday’s win at Washington & Jefferson College, she totaled 18 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals while going 7-of-14 from the field.

Murphy was named the PAC Wrestling Rookie of the Week. He helped lead the Saints to a sixth-place finish at Saturday’s Spartan Mat Classic, which was hosted by Manchester University. Murphy went 5-1 at the event to finish third at 125 pounds. He opened with a 7-1 decision falling by pin (1:09) and would go on to post a 16-1 technical fall win and a 6-4 decision before recording a pin (2:51). Murphy earned a forfeit in the third-place match.

Temple and the women’s basketball team open a two-game homestand on Wednesday (January 17) when they host Saint Vincent College at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center. Murphy and the wrestling team host Waynesburg University on Friday (January 19) at 5 p.m. in a PAC dual at the Connor Convocation Center.
