The Kentucky swimming and diving program will host its regular season finale Friday evening as Cincinnati visits the Lancaster Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. ET.
The meet will serve as Kentucky’s Senior Day, honoring the program’s eight departing student-athletes: Bridgette Alexander, Morgan Belli, Ann Davies, Rachael Freeman, Jackson Gunning, Isaac Jones, Stephen Jou and Allie Petersen. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 4:45 p.m.
“Really honored to be with our seniors and celebrate their amazing careers this weekend,” said head coach Lars Jorgensen. “This is one of our final opportunities to fine tune for SECs, so we’re excited to compete against a very good Cincinnati team.”
The Kentucky women’s team climbed one spot to No. 14 in the latest CSCAA Top 25, while the UK men are receiving votes in the latest poll. Six Kentucky swimmers across 10 individual performances currently rank inside the top 16 nationally. The men’s team is led by senior Isaac Jones who ranks inside the top-10 nationally in both the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle. Sophomore Asia Seidt leads the women’s team, ranked fifth in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 IM.
The Wildcat women are coming off a historic win over in-state rival Louisville on Saturday. UK’s defeat of the 10th-ranked Cardinals marked its first win in the series since 2009 and served as its first top-10 win of the season.
The Bearcats are coming off a home tri meet last Friday, where both the men’s and women’s teams defeated Xavier, but fell to Virginia Tech.
Next time out, the Wildcats will be in action at the Southeastern Conference Championships in College Station, Texas. The event will run from Feb. 14-18.
