Kentucky track and field junior Olivia Gruver was named National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
After all of two competition weekends this season, Kentucky has had the USTFCCCA Women’s National Athlete of the Week both times. Sydney McLaughlin earned the honor in December.
Olivia Gruver cleared 15’1″/4.60m to win the pole vault at the Kentucky Invitational inside Nutter Field House this past weekend. The clearance broke her absolute school record by two inches – which she cleared en route to the NCAA outdoor title last June, and improved upon her early-season NCAA leader.
It tied No. 7 performer on the all-time collegiate absolute list and equaled the No. 4 performer on the all-time collegiate indoor list.
