Former University of Kentucky track and field star Passion Richardson has been named to the Southeastern Conference 2018 Class of Women’s Legends, which showcases former student-athletes, coaches and administrators from all 14 member institutions.
The class will be honored at the 2018 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament in Nashville Feb. 28-March 4. Each legend will be showcased during halftime of their team’s first game of the tournament; all 14 individuals will also be honored as a group, as well as participate in an autograph session during the tournament. Complimentary posters of the Legends will be available at the session.
A bronze medalist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Richardson ran the anchor leg on the United States’ 4×100-meter relay team in the opening round and semifinals.
She was also the silver medalist in the 60-meter dash at the 1997 USA Indoor Championships.
While at UK, Richardson was a four-time All-American in the 55 meters, 100 meters and 4×100-meter relay. She set the UK record at 60 meters, 100 meters and was part of the school-record 4×100-meter relay team. Richardson was SEC bronze medalist at 100 meters in 1997m and was on the World University Games Gold Medal 4×100-meter relay team in 1997 and took the silver medal in the same event at the Pan-American Games that same year.
Richardson later served as an assistant coach for UK track and field and is currently an academic counselor for UK Athletics.
