The Thomas More College wrestling team registered three pins and won seven weight class as it defeated Thiel College, 35-10, tonight (Friday, February 2, 2018) in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) dual match at the Connor Convocation Center.
With the win, the Saints improve to 9-5 in dual matches, including 2-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 7-4 and 1-2 in the PAC.
Thomas More opened the match with two straight pins as first-year Jimmy Murphy (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had a pin in 4:38 in the 125 weight class and first-year Tanner Yenter (California, Ky./Campbell County) had a pin in 1:41at 133.
Sophomore Parker Buschelman (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) had a 3-1 sudden victory decision at 141 and first-year Jimmy Traub (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) won by forfeit at 157. First-year Gunnar Dawson (Madison, Ohio/Madison) earned an 8-0 decision at 165 and sophomore Andrew Taylor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) earned the third pin of the night at 174 in 6:59. Sophomore Avery Jones (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) earned the Saints’ last points as he had a 16-4 major decision at 184.
The Saints return to action tomorrow when they travel to Berea, Ohio to compete in the John Summa Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace University inside the Lou Higgins Center.
