Senior Lukas Euler carded the 38th par-or-better round of his career when he finished with a 1-under 71 to lead the Kentucky men’s golf team during second round action at the Intercollegiate at The Grove on Monday.
Euler’s round pushed him into a tie for 17th with the final 18 holes to play on Tuesday. He is in the hunt for the 15th top 20 individual finish of his career. The Dieburg, Germany, native got his round going in stylish fashion with a birdie on the par-four opening hole. He played flawlessly for much of the front nine before picking up another stroke at the par-four ninth heading into the turn. He had three more birdies on the back nine, including one at the par-five 18th to offset a few setbacks for a strong finish to the round.
Kentucky is in seventh through 36 holes of play. The final round begins on Tuesday with Kentucky set to tee off at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Grove is playing at a par of 72 over 7,368 yards. Live scoring is available via golfstat.com. South Florida leads the field with Liberty three strokes off the lead. Purdue, Louisville and Kennesaw State round out the top five.
Junior Allen Hamilton, playing as an individual, continued his steady performance with a second consecutive round of 73. A birdie on the 10th highlighted his round. Hamilton is tied for 29th through two days.
Classmate Matt Liston carded a score of 74 and is tied with Hamilton for 29th. Liston eagled the par-five second to jumpstart his day. He also posted birdies on the ninth and 14th holes.
Kentucky’s day one finisher, senior Max Mehles, sits in a tie for 26th following a round of 76 on Tuesday. He began the day strong by playing the opening nine holes at 1-under par.
Classmate Fadhli Soetarso is tied for 50th after charting a 78. Redshirt freshman Zach Norris is also tied for 50th after posting a 79 on Tuesday. Senior Fred Allen Meyer enters the final round tied for 58th, while Jacob Cook is tied for 61st after carding a score of 76.
In addition to the Wildcats, the field includes Charleston, Cincinnati, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Dakota State and South Florida.
