Kentucky (5-1-2) hosts Auburn (3-3-1) in its first Southeastern Conference bout of the 2019 season on Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Bell. This matchup will be televised on SEC Network with Mike Watts and Heather Mitts on the call.
“I’m looking forward to starting SEC play,” Kentucky head coach Ian Carry said. “I believe that this is what we have been working hard for all preseason and in our nonconference games and this team is ready for the battle, the fight and the effort that is needed in order to be successful in the SEC. I’m looking forward to our first game so that we can sell ourselves and move forward as a group that can be successful so we can push on towards Orange Beach (SEC Tournament).”
The Wildcats are coming off of a 1-0 loss to Indiana at home on Sunday afternoon. UK has allowed one goal in the last 508 minutes of play dating back to Kentucky’s third game of the season in a 4-2 win over George Mason. During that stretch of play, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents by a score of 13-3.
Freshman forward Hannah Richardson leads the team in scoring with five goals through seven games played while another freshman forward Jordyn Rhodes has scored four goals and recorded one assist through eight games played. Kentucky has seven other players with one goal apiece, including senior midfielders Gina Crosetti and Foster Ignoffo. Ignoffo, along with junior midfielder Miranda Jimenez, leads the team in assists with two.
The Tigers enter this contest coming off of a 3-3 tie with Samford on Sunday. AU is led by Bri Folds with five goals and two assists, while Sydney Richards and Sarah Houchin have three goals apiece through seven games played.
Looking forward, the Wildcats finish up their nonconference schedule against Central Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Bell. That game will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Dave Baker and Payton Atkins on the call.
