EKU WBB OPENS CONFERENCE PLAY AGAINST IN-STATE RIVAL MOREHEAD STATE

Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s basketball team welcomes in-state rival Morehead State University to McBrayer Arena on Saturday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES

– This will be the 100th all-time meeting between the two teams.

– Eastern leads the all-time series between the two teams, 53-46.

– The Colonels swept the Eagles last year. 

THE COLONELS

–  Eastern comes in at 0-2, after losing to No. 5 Louisville, 101-58, Sunday in Louisville. 

–  Amerah Steele posted her second game as the leading scorer in as many games, posting 11 points and four rebounds against No. 5 Louisville.

–  Emma Hacker came off the bench and posted a career-high 10 points against No. 5 Louisville

–  Alice Recanati posted a career-best five assists against Louisville.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

–  Morehead State comes into the contest, 0-1, after falling to Dayton, 71-57, at home in Morehead.

–  Gabby Crawford was named OVC Newcomer of the Week after posted 17 points and 12 rebounds against Dayton. 

–  Lai’Janique Perry-Ellis posted a team-best 19 points against the Flyers. 

–  The Eagles scored 32 points in the paint.
