The Murray State women’s basketball team will face off against Belmont at the CFSB Center on Wednesday at 6pm. The game, which will be televised on ESPN+, marks the first time the former Ohio Valley Conference rivals have met as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Belmont currently leads the all-time series 19-3 and has won the last four meetings between the two teams. In addition, the Bruins have a 9-2 record in games played in Murray and have won the last seven consecutive meetings in the city.
Destinee Wells and Madison Bartley are the leading scorers for Belmont, averaging 16.3 and 11.3 points per game respectively. Tuti Jones and Sydni Harvey follow with averages of 11.0 and 10.7 points per game. Tessa Miller leads the team in rebounding with an average of 6.0 per game, with Jones averaging 5.1. As a team, Belmont averages 68.1 points per game on 41.4% shooting and 35.1 rebounds per game. Opponents of the Bruins average 69.7 points per game on 40.0% shooting and 40.1 rebounds per game.
A win for Murray State on Wednesday would be the 650th all-time victory for the program and the 150th all-time win at the CFSB Center. It would also snap the team’s seven-game losing streak to Belmont in Murray and their four-game overall losing streak against the Bruins.
Murray State’s Katelyn Young was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after scoring a career-high 43 points in the team’s 80-67 loss to Drake on Sunday.
