🏀 Kentucky WBB to Host Top-Ranked South Carolina in SEC Matchup

The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will host a matchup against the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks on January 12th at 7 p.m. ET. This game marks the 73rd meeting between the two teams, with South Carolina currently leading the all-time series 35-37. However, Kentucky has the upper hand when it comes to games played in Lexington, with a 20-12 record in those matchups. The Gamecocks have won six of the last seven meetings between the two teams, but the Wildcats came out on top in their last meeting, which was in the 2022 Southeastern Conference Tournament Title.

The Wildcats are 8-8 this season and are still looking for their first conference win after a 67-48 loss to LSU at home last Sunday. Maddie Scherr had a career-high 22 points in that game and leads the team in both points per game with 16.3 and rebounds per game with 5.7. Jada Walker is also a key player on the team, contributing 12.4 points per game. The Cats have been disruptive on defense, leading the league all season with 22.6 turnovers forced per game and scoring over 33.0% of their points off turnovers.

South Carolina is currently undefeated with a 16-0 overall record, including a 6-0 mark on the road and a 4-0 mark in the SEC. The Gamecocks are coming off a win at Mississippi State and are led by a strong offense averaging 76.1 points per game.
