The Murray State women’s basketball team will face off against Bradley on Sunday, January 15th at 2 p.m. at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. This will be the first-ever meeting between these two teams. The Racers come into the game with a record of 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the MVC, currently on a one-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Braves enter the game with a record of 3-11 overall and 0-5 in the MVC, currently on an eight-game losing streak.
The Racers are coming off a convincing 64-46 win over OVC-foe turned MVC-foe Belmont. Katelyn Young led all scorers with 20 points, while Alexis Burpo and Hannah McKay each had a game-high eight rebounds. The Racers are looking to capitalize on this momentum and continue their winning ways against the Braves.
Bradley is led in scoring by Caroline Waite and Alex Rouse, averaging 13.3 and 11.6 points per game respectively. On the boards, Isis Fitch is the top rebounder for the Braves, averaging 6.9 rebounds per game, followed by Daija Powell at 6.0. The Braves are currently averaging 58.1 points per game on 37.6-percent shooting and 33.5 rebounds per game, while their opponents are averaging 73.4 points per game on 45.9-percent shooting and 39.2 rebounds per game.
A win for the Racers would move them to 5-1 this season against first-time opponents. This season, the Racers have won the first meetings against Southern Indiana, Bellarmine, UIC, and Valparaiso, with the lone loss coming at Drake.
The Racers have been on a roll defensively, holding their opponents to 60 points or fewer in 10 out of their 14 games, resulting in 10 wins. They will look to continue this trend on Sunday and secure a marquee win against the Braves.
The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with Jeff Bidwell as the play-by-play commentator and Burlin Brower as the analyst.
