The University of Kentucky cheerleaders had a strong showing at the Universal Cheerleaders Association finals competition in Orlando, Florida, finishing second in the nation in the Division 1A large coed division.
Going into Sunday’s finals, the team was in third place behind Western Kentucky and Alabama. However, they were able to climb to second place with a score of 93.1 in the finals. South Florida ultimately won the competition with a score of 93.4.
Despite not taking home first place, the University of Kentucky cheer program has a storied history of success, with 24 national championships under their belt, more than any other school in the history of the competition.
Head coach Ryan Martin O’Connor expressed his pride in the team’s performance. He said, “I am so proud of these individuals who came together and made a strong team. The bond this team shares is truly something special and I wouldn’t change a thing about the way we prepared this year.”
The team’s strong performance at the UCA finals is a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season. The University of Kentucky cheer program continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the cheerleading world.
