Eastern Kentucky University’s baseball team faced a tough loss on Tuesday, losing 11-0 against the No. 4 ranked University of Louisville. Despite a valiant effort from the Colonels, the Cardinals proved too strong, showcasing their impressive hitting and defensive skills.
The Cardinals took an early lead in the second inning when Patrick Forbes hit a solo home run. In the third inning, Jack Payton hit a three-run homer to extend the lead to 4-0. Forbes continued his impressive performance, hitting another home run in the fourth inning, this time a two-run shot, bringing the score to 6-0 in favor of the Cardinals. Forbes finished the game with 2-for-2, a walk, three runs, and three RBIs.
Although the Colonels fought hard, they were unable to close the gap, with only three players – Charlie Ludwick, Miguel Larreal, and Jalen Jones – managing one hit each. Despite this loss, the team will look to bounce back as they prepare to take on Western Carolina in a three-game series this weekend, with the series opener scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
While the loss to Louisville was disappointing, the EKU baseball team remains optimistic about their chances for the rest of the season. With continued hard work, dedication, and support from their fans, the team is determined to achieve their goals and make a name for themselves in the competitive world of college baseball.
As we look forward to the upcoming games, we wish the EKU Colonels all the best, and we are excited to see what they will achieve in the weeks and months to come. Let’s go Colonels! #EKUBaseball #LouisvilleBaseball #CollegeBaseball #SportsNews #SportsUpdate #GoColonels
