Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball team is gearing up for their final two home games of the regular season. The Colonels will host the University of Central Arkansas at the Baptist Health Arena on Thursday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the live game on ESPN+ and the radio broadcast on WCYO 100.7 FM or EKUSports.com.
EKU Campus Rec will also offer a VIP space for students at the game, while fans are encouraged to wear black as part of Equality & Inclusion Night.
The Colonels are currently in third place in the ASUN standings with a 10-4 record in conference play and 17-10 overall. They have clinched a spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament and are in a strong position to host a quarterfinal tournament game on February 28.
In their previous encounter with Central Arkansas, the Colonels secured a 77-75 win in January. EKU shot 62 percent in the first half and held off a second-half rally from the Bears. Devontae Blanton finished with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Leland Walker contributed 14 points and five boards. John Ukomadu and Michael Moreno added 12 points each. Camren Hunter led all players with 25 points for Central Arkansas.
In their last game against Liberty, the Colonels fell 83-73 despite Blanton’s impressive 26-point performance. Blanton has been on a roll, averaging 20.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game over his last seven games.
Central Arkansas is 9-18 overall and 4-10 in ASUN games. They have won three of their last six games, including a 76-69 victory over Austin Peay at home on Saturday. Hunter leads the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game, while Eddy Kayouloud is second with 15.2 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.
The Bears have allowed 81.9 points per game and are being out-rebounded by nearly three rebounds per game. On Saturday against Austin Peay, they shot 48 percent from the field and held the Governors to 38 percent shooting.
