The University of Louisville women’s basketball team pulled off a fantastic win over Boston College, coming from behind to win 62-52. With just 12 minutes left in the game, Louisville was behind by eight points, but they managed to turn things around and outscored Boston College 28-10 to clinch their 20th win of the season, which is a remarkable achievement. This is also the 13th consecutive season that the team has won 20 or more games, extending their own program record.

Louisville’s victory was led by Hailey Van Lith, who scored an impressive 17 points. However, it was the team’s bench players who really stepped up to the plate, with Liz Dixon scoring 13 points and an incredible 12 rebounds to achieve her first double-double of the season and the seventh of her career. Merissah Russell also played an important role, scoring a career-high 13 points, with nine of them coming in the final quarter. Mykasa Robinson was another standout player, leading the team with eight assists and tying her career high with nine rebounds.

The game started off with Boston College scoring the first basket, but the Cardinals quickly took control and went on a 10-0 run. Van Lith hit two three-pointers during the run, and the Eagles were held scoreless for more than five minutes after their initial basket. Louisville finished the first quarter with a 14-10 lead.

In the second quarter, Boston College fought back and managed to take the lead at 18-16. However, the Cardinals responded with another impressive run, going on an 8-0 run to regain the lead. They kept the Eagles scoreless for three minutes, extending their run to 12-0. Despite failing to score in the final 2:33 of the quarter, Louisville still managed to end the half with a 32-26 lead.

Van Lith led the Cardinals with 10 points at the half, while Dixon had seven points and a team-high six rebounds. In the third quarter, Boston College came out strong and went on an 11-0 run to take the lead. However, Louisville managed to fight back, and at the end of the quarter, they trailed Boston College by only four points.

In the final quarter, the lead changed hands several times, and neither team could pull away. But the Cardinals managed to shift the momentum in their favor after an offensive rebound from Robinson, leading to a three-pointer from Chrislyn Carr, putting the Cards up 56-50 with just over three minutes left in the game. The team held the Eagles scoreless for the final 3:17 minutes of regulation, clinching an important victory.

The Cardinals will now head back to campus for their final homestand of the regular season. Their next game will be on Thursday, February 23, when they take on Miami at the KFC Yum! Center. The game will be aired nationally on the ACC Network and will be the team’s Celebration of Black Culture game.
