Murray State WBB to Take on UNI for Senior Day

The Murray State women’s basketball team is set to return to the CFSB Center for their final game this season on Saturday when they take on UNI at 2 p.m. for Senior Day. The Racers will be looking to bounce back after a recent defeat against Drake, where they fell 97-71, despite an impressive performance by Katelyn Young, who scored 19 points, and Macey Turley, who contributed 18 points.

This Saturday’s game will mark the fourth time that the Racers have faced UNI, with the Panthers leading the all-time series, 3-0, after their recent win in January. UNI currently has a record of 18-8 and 12-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference, with Grace Boffeli leading the team’s scoring with an average of 16.2 points per game.

Despite UNI’s impressive record, Murray State will be determined to finish their home slate for the season with a record of 9-5. Saturday’s game will also be a significant moment for Macey Turley, who will play her 307th game alongside head coach Rechelle Turner. Turley recently hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter against Drake, which put her career point total at 2,001, making her the fourth member of Murray State’s 2,000-point club.

Furthermore, Turley is on the brink of achieving another milestone, as she only needs four more made 3-pointers to become the school’s all-time leader in the category, surpassing Mariah Robinson. Saturday’s game will also be the last time that Alexis Burpo, Jordyn Hughes, and Macey Turley will take to the court at the CFSB Center, with the trio all returning for one final season with Murray State.

In conclusion, fans can expect a competitive and emotional game on Saturday as the Racers look to end their home slate on a high note. As the season comes to a close, fans will be sad to see the trio of Burpo, Hughes, and Turley depart, but their impact on the team and the program will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.
