UK MTEN Jaden Weekes Named SEC Freshman of the Week After Stellar Performances

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has recognized Kentucky’s Jaden Weekes as the Freshman of the Week in men’s tennis, following his outstanding performances last week. The announcement was made by the league on Wednesday.

This accolade marks the first of Weekes’ collegiate career and makes him the second Kentucky freshman to receive the honor this season, alongside Charlelie Cosnet.

Weekes, a native of Montreal, showcased his skills by going undefeated last week, amassing a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles play. His performance was instrumental in helping the Wildcats secure victories against both LSU and Arkansas. Remarkably, Weekes did not lose a single set throughout the weekend, achieving straight-set wins against LSU’s George Stoupe and Arkansas’ Alan Sau Franco.

In addition to his singles success, Weekes partnered with teammate Liam Draxl to secure two doubles victories, each of which clinched the crucial doubles point for the Wildcats.

So far this spring, Weekes boasts an 8-3 singles record and a 10-6 doubles record. Since joining forces with Draxl, the duo has been an impressive force at the third doubles position for UK, achieving a 5-1 record.

As Jaden Weekes continues to excel in his freshman season, the future looks bright for both the talented athlete and the Kentucky men’s tennis program.
