Standout Athlete from James Madison Brings Impressive Record to New Team
Head coach Jeff Walz has announced the addition of graduate transfer guard Kiki Jefferson to the Louisville Cardinals for the 2023-24 season. Jefferson, who played the first four years of her collegiate career at James Madison, has an impressive record, with 1,838 points scored across 116 career games.
During her time at James Madison, Jefferson earned numerous accolades, including being named the 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year, Sun Belt Tournament MVP, and a spot on the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List. She consistently earned All-Conference honors and was named CAA Rookie of the Year during her freshman season.
Coach Walz praised Jefferson’s dynamic athleticism, scoring ability, and defensive skills, highlighting her diverse skill set and ability to play multiple positions with her 6-1 frame. Jefferson’s James Madison career saw her ranking highly in various categories, such as second in career free throws made, fifth in scoring average, and sixth all-time in points.
In her final season at James Madison, she was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year and led the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016. She also led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring, averaging 18.3 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per outing.
During her junior season, she achieved a career-best average of 18.8 points per game, along with 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Jefferson continued to excel throughout her collegiate career, consistently scoring in double figures and achieving multiple double-doubles.
Hailing from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jefferson was a standout at Lancaster Catholic High School, earning numerous accolades and guiding her team to an undefeated season and a state championship in 2018.
