The Racers will first host Alabama A&M on Tuesday before hitting the road to face UT Martin on Wednesday. Both games promise to be exciting matchups as the Racers look to build on their recent successes.
Scouting Report: Alabama A&M and UT Martin
Alabama A&M comes into the contest with an 11-19 overall record, their most recent game being an 18-7 loss to Florida A&M. Tommy Easley has been a standout for the Bulldogs, starting all 30 games and maintaining a .368 batting average. Easley has also contributed seven doubles and 30 RBIs this season.
UT Martin, on the other hand, currently holds an 11-26 overall record, recently securing a series win over Southern Indiana. The Skyhawks defeated the Racers 5-2 in their previous encounter this season on February 21. Hunter McClean leads UTM with a .341 batting average, six doubles, and 15 RBIs.
Murray State’s Impressive Week
The Racers recently achieved their first-ever sweep in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), winning all three games against Illinois State. MSU’s bats were on fire, accumulating 29 runs and 40 hits throughout the series. The team also launched eight home runs, marking their first road sweep since April of the previous year.
Dustin Mercer, a native of Weddington, North Carolina, played a pivotal role in the Racers’ sweep of Illinois State. Mercer totaled 10 hits and nine RBIs across the week, hitting an impressive .526, with 10-for-19 and five extra-base hits. With three home runs and two doubles, Mercer’s OPS reached an astounding 1.676. Mercer also made an impact on the base paths, going 3-for-3 on stolen bases and scoring seven runs.
