Murray State softball emerged victorious in game three against Evansville, clinching a 6-2 home series win on Sunday.
The Racers’ offense was ignited by Lindsey Carroll, who earned a walk and stole a base to advance to third. Ailey Schyck capitalized on Carroll’s efforts with a triple to the right-center field, scoring Carroll home. The Racers added another run in the second inning as Saxon Radcliffe hit an RBI double to bring Schyck home.
In the fourth inning, Carroll led the Racers’ offense with a single to right field. Schyck grounded out to the shortstop, advancing Carroll to second before Bailey Broemmer hit a single to left-center field, allowing Carroll to score. Erin Lackey provided additional support for the Racers, hitting an RBI double to left-center field and bringing Broemmer home.
Murray State added two more runs in the fifth inning, as Lily Fischer walked home and Adison Hicks scored on a wild pitch. Evansville managed to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough to change the game’s outcome.
Hannah James earned the win after pitching the first six innings, recording seven strikeouts while allowing only one hit and no runs.
