University of Louisville’s center Bryan Hudson has been named to the prestigious Rimington Trophy Award Watch List, an accolade given annually to the top center in college football. This announcement places Hudson among the country’s most accomplished players in his position.
This year, the Rimington Trophy committee collaborated with Pro Football Focus (PFF), a sports analysis platform, to refine the watchlist to the top 40 centers in the nation. PFF employs a meticulous evaluation process where every player is graded on every play of every game based on the successful execution of their given assignment. The combination of data from PFF and nominations from schools allowed the Trophy committee to compile a comprehensive and meritorious watchlist.
Entering his senior year, Hudson boasts an impressive record. In his previous season, he started all 13 games as center, driving the UofL offense to an average of 201.0 yards per game on the ground. This performance placed the team 23rd in national rankings, an accomplishment that underlines Hudson’s abilities on the field.
A native of Georgetown, Kentucky, Hudson clocked 852 snaps in his previous season and recorded the highest performance grade on the offensive line. Before his transfer from Virginia Tech, he had already established himself as a formidable player. Hudson was previously named a preseason first-team All-ACC choice by Phil Steele and was also listed on the Outland Trophy Watch List, another distinguished recognition in college football. Most recently, Hudson was named to the preseason All-ACC team, further solidifying his standing as a preeminent player in the sport.
The Rimington Trophy Watch List represents a dynamic field of candidates, with schools able to nominate their centers for late addition based on their performance during the season. With his inclusion in the list, Hudson enters the upcoming season with high expectations and a proven track record of excellence.
