The Racers are marching into the 2023 season with high hopes, especially given the return of their top three scorers. Sophomores Mary Hardy and Sydney Etter, along with graduate student Saraya Young, are the trio that fans will be eagerly watching. Hardy stood out in the 2022 season, leading the scoreboard for MSU with five exceptional goals. Etter and Young showcased their prowess by contributing four goals each. But it was Young’s all-round performance that caught everyone’s eye as she topped the team with 16 points last season.
Another significant boost for the Racers is the return of their ace goalkeeper, Jenna Villacres. Entering her final season with MSU, Villacres has an impressive track record, maintaining a sub-2 goal against average throughout her career. Her presence in the goal will undoubtedly be a reassuring sight for both her teammates and the fans.
Reflecting on the past season, the Racers showcased immense grit and determination. In their debut season in the Missouri Valley Conference, they battled their way to the conference tournament championship. However, a nail-biting finish saw them fall just short, with Missouri State edging them out by a solitary goal.

Following the clash against Chattanooga, Murray State has another exhibition lined up. They will be hitting the road to Evansville, Indiana, for a face-off against Southern Indiana on August 12.
