Isaiah Cozart had a night for the ages on Monday, leading the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team to a thrilling 77-76 victory over Troy University.
Cozart recorded the first triple-double in program history, finishing with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and a staggering 10 blocks. He broke his own program record of eight blocks in a game.
The Colonels (3-2) held a comfortable lead for most of the night, but the Trojans made a late push. A 13-5 run capped off by a 3-pointer from Christyon Eugene with 47 seconds left cut the EKU lead to just two points, 75-73.
However, the Colonels were able to hang on thanks to clutch free throws from Tayshawn Comer. Eugene hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Troy, but it was too little too late.
Cozart’s performance was truly remarkable. He was a force on both ends of the court, and his 10 blocks were a game-changer.
In addition to Cozart, Devontae Blanton had 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists for EKU. Michael Moreno added 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Leland Walker scored 14 points and dished out six assists.
Eugene led Troy with a game-high 23 points. He scored Troy’s final 11 points of the game.
The Colonels will now hit the road for their first road trip of the season, facing off against Western Kentucky on Sunday. Tip-off in Bowling Green is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
