The Western Kentucky University men’s basketball team defeated the Campbellsville University Tigers 101-77 on Wednesday night at E.A. Diddle Arena. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Hilltoppers and improved their record to 5-3 on the season.
Balanced Scoring Effort Propels Hilltoppers to Victory
Khristian Lander led the Hilltoppers in scoring with a career-high 22 points, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and dishing out five assists. Six Hilltoppers recorded double-digit point totals in the win, with three of them coming off the bench.
Jalen Jackson led the way in assists with a total of six, while Tyrone Marshall Jr. and Brandon Newman tied for second in scoring with 15 points each.
Strong Second Half Seals the Win for WKU
WKU took a 52-33 lead into the halftime break, and they continued to control the tempo in the second half. Marshall Jr. opened the scoring with a two-handed slam, and Newman connected on his second triple of the game two minutes later.
The Hilltoppers continued to build their lead, and with just over five minutes remaining in the game, they held a 21-point advantage. Jack Edelen found Dontaie Allen for a three-pointer, putting WKU over the century mark at 101-75.
