Paige Briggs saved the best for last during her legendary five-year run anchoring Western Kentucky’s volleyball program. After willing the Hilltoppers to new heights, the Ortonville, Michigan native earned a fitting curtain call on Wednesday.
Briggs landed on the AVCA’s third-team All-American list, putting the cherry on top of an incredible 2023 campaign. She’s just the sixth WKU player ever to achieve three All-American honors.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter now adds more hardware to an overloaded trophy case that includes back-to-back C-USA Player of the Year awards. Briggs is also the first player in conference history with five first-team All-C-USA selections after another dominant showing this fall.
While leading the Hilltoppers to yet another NCAA tourney, Briggs terminated kills at a blistering rate of 457 (.329 hitting percentage) to go along with 275 digs, 58 aces and sterling serve receive. She etched her name into the record books too by recording 35 kills in a single match along with 10 aces in another – both WKU bests.
Her list of career accomplishments and records at Western Kentucky is too long to fully mention. But highlights include ranking top three all-time in kills, attempts and aces – while being the lone Hilltopper ever with five NCAA bids and an unblemished 68-0 C-USA record.
The consummate leader’s perseverance finally paid off with a storybook send-off in 2023. She can now take her talents to the pro ranks after being drafted by the Omaha Supernovas in the inaugural PVF season.
