Hilltopper Track and Field Excels at Music City Challenge, Concludes Regular Season

The Hilltopper Track and Field team concluded its regular season with an impressive showing at the Music City Challenge, delivering standout performances across various events.

Once again, Katie Isenbarger showcased her exceptional talent in the high jump, breaking her own previous record by clearing 1.88 meters. Her remarkable achievement secured her third place in all of NCAA DI. Emilia Lesniak also displayed her skill, claiming fourth place in the high jump invite.

On the men’s side, Nick Fornoff delivered a stellar performance by clearing 2.00 meters, matching his personal best set just one week prior. His impressive feat earned him a well-deserved second place.

A total of 13 Hilltoppers made their mark by cracking the top 10 in various events. Kaison Barton impressed with a second-place finish in the men’s hammer throw, while Jackson Tweed made a notable debut in the pole vault, securing third place.

The women’s hammer throw group continued to shine, with Ajla Basic leading the charge with a commendable fourth-place finish in the invite event.

On the track, Brunel Desinor showcased his speed and endurance by claiming fourth place in the 400 meters. In the 400 Hurdles, Zack Martinez delivered a season-best performance, finishing sixth with a time of 54.81.

In the exhilarating 800-meter race, Addie Frisch led the way for the women’s squad, demonstrating determination and skill. On the men’s side, Wade Balcom displayed his competitive spirit, securing an 18th place finish with a time of 1:55.

Looking ahead, the Hilltoppers will utilize a week-long break to conclude the academic year before gearing up for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. Scheduled to commence on May 10-12 in El Paso, Texas, and hosted by UTEP, the championships promise to be a thrilling culmination of the season, offering the Hilltoppers an opportunity to further showcase their talent and dedication on the track and in the field.
