WKU Football received a major spotlight in the 2024 NFL Draft as receiver Malachi Corley was selected by the New York Jets with the first pick of the third round. Corley’s draft marked a significant moment for the Hilltoppers, positioning him as the 39th player from WKU to be drafted into the NFL.
As the 65th overall pick in the draft, Corley joins the Jets with a reputation for excellence on the field, earning him the nickname “YAC King” for his exceptional ability after the catch. His selection by the Jets marks a milestone for WKU, with Corley becoming the first Hilltopper to join the team since Davlin Mullen in 1983 and the fourth overall player to be selected by the franchise.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Tyson Helton, WKU has seen a remarkable streak of success in the NFL Draft, with players selected within the first three rounds in the last three drafts. Corley’s selection follows the footsteps of notable WKU alumni like Brodric Martin and DeAngelo Malone, highlighting the program’s commitment to developing top-tier talent.
Corley’s impact on the field for the Hilltoppers has been undeniable throughout his collegiate career. Over four seasons and 49 games, he showcased his talent with 3,033 yards and 29 touchdowns on 259 receptions. Notably, Corley’s standout game against Louisiana Tech, where he recorded 207 receiving yards and three touchdowns, earned him recognition as CUSA’s Offensive Player of the Week and other prestigious honors.
