Bulnes, Holis, Reddy, and Stahlbrand Earn Academic All-District Honors

Fernando Bulnes, Evzen Holis, J. Anurag Reddy, and Kristoffer Stahlbrand were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men’s Tennis Team on Tuesday, recognizing their dual excellence in academics and athletics.

Holis Leads with Perfect GPA

Evzen Holis, pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, led the team with a flawless 4.0 GPA. The Brno, Czech Republic native compiled a 16-10 singles record and an 11-10 doubles mark, primarily from the top court. Holis was also named to the First Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Academic Team. He played a crucial role in EKU’s comeback against Bellarmine and secured notable victories against Queens’ Laurenz Blickwede and FGCU’s Hugo Magnusson, both Second Team All-ASUN players.

Bulnes Shines in Singles and Doubles

Fernando Bulnes, majoring in computer science with a 3.72 GPA, boasted a 15-6 singles record from the top three spots, ending the season on a six-match winning streak. The Badajoz, Spain native posted a 10-8 doubles record, primarily from the No. 1 position. Bulnes’ notable performances include straight-set victories over No. 60 Pacific’s Justas Trainauskas and FGCU’s Phillipp Bosse, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Stahlbrand’s Strong Doubles Play

Kristoffer Stahlbrand, a finance major with a 3.68 GPA, tied for a team-high 14 doubles wins, primarily from the bottom two courts, and posted a 12-10 singles record. The Oslo, Norway native’s doubles victories include wins over Second Team All-ASUN players Laurenz Blickwede and Eder Blanco, highlighting his consistency and teamwork.

Reddy’s Solid Performance

J. Anurag Reddy, with a 3.44 GPA in accounting, achieved an 11-7 singles record and a 9-7 doubles mark. The accounting major’s highlights include a doubles win over Queens’ Laurenz Blickwede, showcasing his capability and contribution to the team.

The recognition of these four players underscores their ability to excel both academically and athletically. Their achievements set a high standard for student-athletes, demonstrating dedication and excellence in all aspects of their collegiate careers.
