Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) bolstered its men’s basketball roster with the addition of Tyler Andrews, a 6-foot-6 guard with two seasons of eligibility remaining, announced head coach A.W. Hamilton.

Andrews brings experience from his tenure at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he showcased his versatility on the court. In his sophomore season, he played in 32 games, averaging 4.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while maintaining a 40 percent field goal shooting percentage. Notably, Andrews displayed his prowess from beyond the arc, connecting on 34 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Coach Hamilton praised Andrews’ attributes, highlighting his length, shot-making ability, and defensive toughness, emphasizing his alignment with the team’s ethos.

Hailing from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Andrews demonstrated his scoring ability with a season-best 25-point performance against Denver, showcasing his efficiency from various areas on the court.

In his freshman campaign, Andrews averaged 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, making significant contributions to the team’s success. He notably achieved a double-double in a Summit League Tournament game, underscoring his versatility and impact on the court.

Andrews’ stellar high school career, marked by his selection as First Team All-Iowa at Kimball Union Academy, attests to his talent and potential as an asset to the EKU basketball program.

The addition of Andrews comes on the heels of EKU’s triumph in the 2023-24 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Championship, marking a historic milestone for the program. Coach Hamilton’s accolades, including ASUN Coach of the Year and NABC District III Coach of the Year, underscore the program’s resurgence under his leadership.
