Nick Lopez and Ryan Waldschmidt Lead Kentucky’s SEC Honors

Nick Lopez has been named First-Team All-Southeastern Conference, highlighting a remarkable season where he flirted with a .400 batting average. Ryan Waldschmidt earned second team honors, while Mitchell Daly, Mason Moore, and Emilien Pitre were selected for the All-SEC Defensive Team. The league coaches voted on the awards, and Nick Mingione was named SEC Coach of the Year for the second time in eight seasons.

Nick Lopez

  • Position: Designated Hitter (also played third and first base)
  • Stats: .380 batting average, 1.053 OPS, 52 runs, 70 hits, two triples, six home runs, 22 walks, 47 RBIs, 20 doubles
  • Performance: Lopez, a graduate transfer from Southern Cal, was a key player for Kentucky, finishing the season with a .380 batting average and a 1.053 OPS in 48 games. In SEC play, he hit .348 with 31 RBIs and had 23 multi-hit games.

Ryan Waldschmidt

  • Position: Outfielder
  • Stats: .370 batting average, 1.153 OPS, 59 runs, 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 39 RBIs, 31 walks, 16 HBP, 23 stolen bases
  • Performance: Waldschmidt excelled in conference play with a .405 batting average. He produced impressive numbers despite recovering from a torn ACL in 2023.

Emilien Pitre

  • Position: Infielder
  • Stats: .990 fielding percentage, 23 double plays
  • Performance: Pitre earned defensive honors for the second consecutive season, making just two errors in 210 chances and forming a strong defensive duo in the middle infield.

Mitchell Daly

  • Position: Third Baseman
  • Stats: .981 fielding percentage
  • Performance: Daly transitioned to third base and was exceptional, making just two errors in 104 chances and providing an athletic, fearless presence at the position.

Mason Moore

  • Position: Pitcher
  • Stats: Flawless in 14 fielding chances, caught two of three would-be base stealers
  • Performance: Moore showcased his athleticism and range, excelling defensively off the mound.

SEC Tournament Details

Kentucky will begin SEC Tournament play at 10:30 a.m. ET/9:30 local time on Wednesday, May 22, in Hoover, Alabama, against the winner of LSU/Georgia.
