The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) men’s track and field team demonstrated their competitive edge at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, securing a top 50 finish with a total of five points. Competing at Oregon’s renowned Hayward Field, the Colonels tied for 48th place alongside Power 5 school Missouri, outperforming several prestigious programs.
EKU’s impressive performance saw them surpass numerous Power 5 institutions, including Notre Dame, Louisville, Purdue, Washington State, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Syracuse, TCU, UCLA, Wake Forest, Arizona, Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado, and Indiana.
A standout moment for the Colonels came from Hakim Abouzouhir, who earned First Team All-American honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second consecutive year. Abouzouhir delivered a remarkable performance, finishing fourth with a time of 8:27.09 on Friday.
In addition to Abouzouhir’s success, Kristian Imroth also made his mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Imroth finished 21st with a time of 8:52.92, earning All-American Honorable Mention honors.
Nikodem Dworczak added to EKU’s accolades by securing All-American Honorable Mention honors in the 10,000 meters. Dworczak finished 20th, recording a time of 29:25.68.
The Colonels’ strong showing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships highlights the dedication and talent of the EKU men’s track and field team.
