As the 2024 summer series of Athletes Unlimited Softball kicks off on Monday, Kentucky Softball alums Erin Coffel and Kayla Kowalik are poised to take center stage. The highly anticipated series will feature all six competitions involving these two Wildcats greats, televised on the ESPN Family of Networks.
During the AU Draft held on Friday morning, Coffel secured a spot as a middle infielder on Team Leach, while Kowalik was selected by Team Wiggins. The team placements set the stage for an exciting series, with Coffel and Kowalik slated to square off twice, first on June 10 and again on June 11. Both matchups will take place at Wilkins Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
Team Leach, captained by infielder Aubrey Leach, who finished second in the 2023 AUX event, will feature Coffel. Meanwhile, Team Wiggins, led by outfielder Megan Wiggins, will include Kowalik. Adding to the excitement, infielder Jessi Warren, the reigning Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball AUX Defensive MVP, will guide the Blue team into the opening series after finishing sixth on the leaderboard last year.
Coffel and Kowalik, both standout players during their time at Kentucky, are expected to bring their exceptional skills and competitive spirit to Athletes Unlimited. Their participation not only highlights their individual talents but also underscores the strength of the Kentucky Softball program.
Fans can look forward to thrilling performances from Coffel and Kowalik as they compete against and alongside some of the best players in professional softball. The 2024 summer series promises to be an exciting showcase of talent, determination, and sportsmanship, with Kentucky Softball alums leading the charge.
Be sure to tune in to the ESPN Family of Networks to catch all the action and support Erin Coffel and Kayla Kowalik as they represent Kentucky Softball on the national stage.
