Louisville Cards WBB land coaching coup in Butler snag

In a move that’s sure to send shockwaves through the ACC, the Louisville Cardinals have nabbed former Clemson head coach Amanda Butler for their women’s basketball staff.

Butler, a hardwood tactician with serious chops, joins Jeff Walz’s crew after six seasons of turning heads with the Tigers. She’s not just bringing X’s and O’s to the Ville – Butler’s got a knack for lighting a fire under her players that could make the KFC Yum! Center feel like the hottest spot in town.

“We hit the jackpot with Amanda,” Walz told the Courier Journal. “She’s got the goods on the sidelines and knows how to get the best out of her players. This is a home run hire for Cardinal Nation.”

During her Clemson stint, Butler had the Tigers punching above their weight, notching an NCAA Tournament berth and toppling some of the big dogs in the ACC. Before that, she cut her teeth at Florida and Charlotte, proving she can build a winner wherever she lands.

“I’m jazzed to join this powerhouse program,” Butler said. “Louisville’s got a hoops tradition that’s second to none, and these fans bring the noise. Can’t wait to help Coach Walz and these ladies chase some hardware.”

With Butler on board, don’t be surprised if the Cards make even more noise in March. The rest of the ACC might want to take notice – Louisville just got a whole lot tougher.
